FOA Fort Belvoir

Family Optometric Associates is locally owned and operated serving the Fort Belvoir, Virginia area since 2005. We are located within the Fort Belvoir AAFES Exchange.

When you visit us for an eye exam, our optometrists, Dr. Steven Chado and Dr. Erik Mohaber will evaluate your visual health. This includes general eye examinations for correction of farsightedness, nearsightedness, presbyopia, and astigmatism. The doctors also diagnose, manage and treat diseases and disorders of the visual system. Thorough examinations of the external and internal structure of the eyes are performed to evaluate for many ocular conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, retinal disorders, and systemic disorders including hypertension and diabetes.

Dr. Erik Mohaber, O.D.

Travel has long been a passion of Dr. Mohaber’s, and his chosen field of optometry has allowed him several chances to relocate and see the world.  Dr. Mohaber was first introduced to the optometric profession at the age of twelve, when his godfather, a Manhattan optometrist, tutored him in vision science.  Dr. Mohaber completed his undergraduate education at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1998, and earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Salus University in Philadephia in 2002. Dr. Mohaber then moved to Connecticut to attend a residency in Low Vision at the West Haven VAMC.  The training was thorough and the experience was invaluable. Along the way, Dr. Mohaber worked in the Peten region of Guatemala, providing eye care to the indigenous people & several work opportunities where the doctor consulted with other eye care professionals from Spain, Norway, Germany, Singapore & Korea.
